Job Title: Agriculture Seed Production Location Manager/Site Lead

Job Summary:

The Seed Production Location Manager/Site Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of seed production, processing, and distribution at a designated site. This role ensures efficient operations, maintains seed quality, manages personnel, and ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The manager works closely with growers, agronomists, and corporate leadership to optimize production and meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management:

  • Oversee the entire seed production process, from planting to harvesting, conditioning, and packaging.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure timely distribution and delivery of seed products.
  • Ensure all equipment, storage, and handling facilities operate efficiently and safely.
  • Implement and improve production processes to optimize yield and quality.

Personnel Management:

  • Lead and supervise site employees, seasonal staff, and contractors.
  • Provide training on seed production techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Develop work schedules and ensure staff efficiency and productivity.
  • Foster a positive and safe work environment.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Maintain high-quality seed standards through rigorous testing and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including USDA, EPA, and state seed certification requirements.
  • Oversee implementation of quality control programs, such as ISO, ISTA, or other industry-specific standards.
  • Monitor and document seed performance, purity, and germination rates.

Financial & Administrative Duties:

  • Manage the site budget, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Prepare reports on production metrics, quality control, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in forecasting and planning for future seed production cycles.
  • Work with procurement and logistics teams to manage supply chain activities.

Grower & Supplier Relations:

  • Collaborate with contract growers to ensure successful seed production.
  • Provide agronomic guidance and support to improve yields and seed quality.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Address and resolve any production challenges that arise with growers or suppliers.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Seed Science, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience in seed production, agronomy, or agricultural facility management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of seed genetics, processing, and certification requirements.
  • Ability to analyze data, manage budgets, and optimize production processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agricultural software systems.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making abilities.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and field settings, with exposure to variable weather conditions.
  • Requires occasional lifting, walking in fields, and working with machinery.
  • Seasonal workload may require extended hours during peak planting and harvest times.
