Grain Handler

Job Summary:

The Grain Handler is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the grain elevator, including receiving, drying, cleaning, and shipping grain. This position involves operating equipment safely and efficiently, maintaining product quality, and ensuring smooth grain movement throughout the facility. The Grain Handler plays an important role in supporting harvest and storage operations while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Grain Receiving & Shipping:

    • Assist with unloading inbound grain trucks and loading outbound shipments.

    • Weigh, sample, and grade grain according to company and regulatory standards.

    • Direct truck traffic and communicate effectively with drivers and team members.

  • Equipment Operation:

    • Operate grain handling equipment such as conveyors, augers, dryers, bucket elevators, and skid steers.

    • Monitor and adjust grain flow and temperature controls to ensure optimal drying and storage.

    • Perform basic maintenance, lubrication, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.

  • Facility Maintenance:

    • Clean up spilled grain and maintain a tidy, safe work area.

    • Assist in the upkeep of bins, pits, and elevator grounds.

    • Participate in scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance tasks.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.

    • Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

    • Report any equipment issues, hazards, or safety concerns to management immediately.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

  • Experience working in grain handling, farming, or agricultural operations (preferred but not required).

  • Ability to operate and maintain grain handling equipment safely.

  • Comfortable working in outdoor and dusty environments.

  • Physically able to lift 50+ pounds and perform manual labor for extended periods.

  • Willing to work extended hours during harvest and peak seasons, including weekends.
