Assistant Feed Mill Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Feed Mill Manager to support daily feed production, equipment operation, and team coordination at a feed manufacturing facility. This role works closely with the Feed Location Manager to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient feed production while maintaining facility standards and supporting outbound logistics.
This position is ideal for someone with prior experience operating computerized control systems in a feed mill, grain elevator, manufacturing plant, or similar industrial setting. The role involves physical work, leadership support, and direct involvement in feed mixing and mill operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate computerized batching and control systems (switchboard/HMI), including entering formulas and adjusting rations
Assist with feed mixing, sequencing, and quality control
Coordinate intake, storage, and movement of raw ingredients
Support scheduling and coordination of labor and truck traffic
Track inventory levels and product flow through the facility
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the mill
Perform routine inspections of equipment, buildings, and grounds
Assist with basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs
Identify and recommend improvements to workflow, equipment, or facility efficiency
Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and regulatory compliance activities
Ensure all feed meets company quality standards and applicable state and federal regulations
Represent the company with a professional, team-focused attitude
Required Experience
Assistant Feed Mill Manager Candidates must have experience in at least one of the following environments:
Feed mill or feed manufacturing facility
Grain elevator or grain handling operation
Manufacturing or production facility using computerized control panels or batching systems
Industrial plant operations involving material flow, mixing, or automated equipment
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of relevant industrial, agricultural, or manufacturing experience
Experience operating production, material-handling, or automated equipment
Familiarity with DOT guidelines and transportation coordination
Ability to support and guide team members in daily operations
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
Basic math and measurement skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting of materials up to 80 lbs
Bending, reaching, climbing, and working at heights
Regular exposure to operating machinery and moving equipment
Exposure to feed dust; PPE required
Occasional work in confined spaces and varying weather conditions
Elevated noise levels in certain areas; hearing protection required
